The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) invites proposals for continuing education sessions and architectural tours for the 2026 Conference on Architecture, taking place in-person in Vancouver from May 5–8, 2026.
The RAIC’s premier national event brings together architects, interns, students, and allied professionals to explore the latest in architectural thinking, research, and practice. With a focus on professional excellence and societal impact, this is a platform to share innovative work, challenge norms, and build connections across the architectural community.
Proposal Deadline: September 22, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PT
Successful education sessions will be offered live at the conference and, where applicable, included in a post-event on-demand format—extending their reach to attendees across Canada.

Presenter Benefits
- Continuing Education presenter certificate
- One (1) night accommodation at the conference venue hotel (for up to two presenters who reside outside Vancouver);
- One (1) Conference Day pass (same day as session) and a 25% discount to upgrade to any education pass type or other ticketed event
Education Session Themes
Proposals must align with one of the eight program themes:
- Climate Justice and Resilience – sustainability, adaptation, building science.
- Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice – design justice, inclusive practice.
- Indigenous-Led Architecture and Design – traditional knowledge, self-determined processes. (At least one Indigenous-identifying speaker is required.)
- Health, Safety, and Accessibility – universal design, wellness, life safety.
- History, Heritage, and Culture – adaptive reuse, theory, conservation.
- Housing, Planning, and Urbanism – urban interventions, density, infrastructure.
- Innovation in Materials, Technology, and Construction – AI, fabrication, digital tools.
- The Practice and Business of Architecture – business models, risk, DEI in firms.
Submission Guidelines
- Session Length: 60 minutes (including a 15-minute Q&A)
- Learning Outcomes: Clearly define four measurable outcomes.
- Format: In-person presentation and recorded session for on-demand access.
- Speaker Limit: Maximum two speakers per session. Presenter benefits apply to both.
- Title and Description: Title (max. 10 words); Description (max. 50 words)
- Deadline: September 22, 2025, 5:00 p.m. PT

Architectural Tours
We are also accepting proposals for architectural tours that highlight Vancouver’s dynamic built environment, and special events that foster engagement, dialogue, and inspiration throughout the conference. Proposals must be educational and accessible, with clear learning goals.
